Ukrainians Launch Pix.bi, a Free Website Builder for Photographers, with $60,000 Invested

Spouses Viktoriia and Oleksii Zakir have launched pix.bi, a website builder tailored for photographers. It allows users to create a free business card-style website with a portfolio — no coding skills required.

  • The platform is available in Ukrainian, English, and Polish. Its goal is to offer a compelling alternative to popular Russian builders like Vigbo and Wfolio, which many photographers still rely on.
  • Pix.bi is designed with photographers’ specific needs: user-friendly galleries, optimized image handling, and tools for professionally showcasing work.
  • According to the founders, the basic version of pix.bi includes all the essential features for launching a website. It is completely free, with no hidden fees or restrictions.
  • Viktoriia is a family photographer, while Oleksii is an IT entrepreneur and developer. The idea for pix.bi was born in 2023 when they set out to build a website for Viktoriia.

«After analyzing the market, we found that while there are many website builders out there, almost none are truly made for photographers,» Oleksii told Scroll.media. «For a long time, Viktoriia used @pixieset, one of the best platforms in the niche, but it was overloaded with features, wasn’t available in Ukrainian, and wasn’t user-friendly for beginners. That’s why we decided to create our own product — multifunctional, yet intuitive and easy to use.»

  • The project is fully self-funded.

«If you count the time we’ve invested, plus payments to contractors, licenses, and cloud services (we operate entirely in the cloud), the total costs are between $50,000 and $60,000. We’re continuing to invest in product development and marketing — and we’ve already received some early feedback from users,» Oleksii added.

  • Pix.bi has been in test mode for about a month and has already attracted both free and paying users.
  • Paid plans start at just $5 per month or $54 annually, depending on storage capacity. Premium users can connect their own domain and remove pix.bi branding from their sites.
