How Ahrefs Made a 43% Annual Bonus Possible for Its Employees
Founded by Ukrainian entrepreneur Dmytro Gerasymenko, Singapore-based Ahrefs has awarded its employees a generous annual bonus — nearly 43% of their yearly salary. The news was shared by Ahrefs CMO Tim Soulo.
This substantial bonus became possible thanks to the company’s strong financial performance. In response, Gerasymenko revised the company’s incentive system and increased the annual bonus. Typically, Ahrefs allocated 3% of its Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) to employee benefits, but that figure was raised to 5%. As a result, just before the New Year holidays, employees received a significant boost to their pay.
«Four months ago, everyone at Ahrefs received an annual bonus equivalent to ~43% of their year-to-date salary,» wrote Soulo.
«I’m not sure how your company handles bonuses, but if +43% of YTD salary sounds better than what you have… it might be worth keeping an eye on the ‘Careers’ page at Ahrefs.»

Ahrefs continues to grow without outside investment — a fact that, along with what Soulo calls «healthy profitability,» has made such generous bonuses possible.
Though based in Singapore, Tim Soulo is originally from Mykolaiv, Ukraine. His real name is Artem Mohylevsky. Today, Ahrefs employs around 100 people, many of whom are Ukrainians.
Ahrefs is known for developing one of the most widely used tools for digital marketing and SEO. The company was founded in 2010 by Dmytro Gerasymenko. In 2023, Daria Samokish, Head of PR at Ahrefs, reported that the company’s annual revenue had reached approximately $100 million.
