Wordsmith AI Raises $25M

Scottish LegalTech startup Wordsmith AI has raised $25 million in a Series A round, bringing its total valuation to $100 million — just 18 months after its launch.

  • The company is developing an AI-powered platform designed to automate routine legal tasks such as contract analysis, responding to standard inquiries, and processing legal questionnaires.
  • Wordsmith AI is already considered one of the fastest-growing startups in Scotland.
  • The new funding follows a previous $5 million seed round, and the Series A includes backing from Index Ventures and Scottish Enterprise. Notably, Index Ventures also participated in the earlier round.

Wordsmith AI was founded by three co-founders. One of them — Volodymyr Giginyak, a Ukrainian, as noted by Andriy Brodetsky, Investment Associate at Horizon Capital — serves as CTO.

The other two co-founders are originally from the UK:

  • Ross McNairn (CEO) – a former lawyer who previously sold a startup to Skyscanner in 2016 and later worked at TravelPerk.
  • Robbie Falkenthal (COO) – a qualified lawyer who previously worked at KPMG and held senior roles at TravelPerk.

The funding will support international expansion, with new offices planned in London and New York by the end of 2025.

Команди розробки чи офісу в Україні стартап не має.

Earlier, we reported on Fireworks AI, another startup with Ukrainian co-founders.
