TA Ventures Invests in Tarjama in $15M Series A Round

Ukrainian VC firm TA Ventures has joined the Series A round of Tarjama, a leading speech technology provider in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). The round totaled $15 million and was led by Global Ventures, with participation from Wamda Capital, Phaze Capital, Golden Gate Ventures, and Endeavor Catalyst.

  • Founded in 2009, Tarjama is headquartered in the UAE and has a presence in over 30 countries. According to the company, its technology has processed over 2 billion words across 50+ languages and 22 Arabic dialects.
  • The company’s latest release, Pronoia V2, is the first large language model (LLM) built specifically for Arabic. According to Tarjama, it outperforms GPT-4o, DeepSeek-V3, and Cohere in Arabic-language tasks.
  • With the new funding, Tarjama plans to scale Arabic.AI, its AI agent designed to help companies solve complex business challenges while considering the cultural, linguistic, and economic nuances of the Arabic-speaking world.
  • The company also aims to double its R&D and engineering teams, expand infrastructure across key sectors, and launch an AI Academy that will train hundreds of executives in the private and public sectors on practical AI implementation over the next 18 months.

«We see tremendous potential in developing specialized AI solutions in the Middle East,» said Viktoriya Tigipko, Founder and Managing Partner at TA Ventures.

«Tarjama demonstrates a rare combination of technical excellence, cultural depth, and stable, profitable growth. Their Pronoia product is not just another language model — it’s the foundation for a new business infrastructure in the Arab world. It’s exactly the kind of company we want to support: ambitious enough to transform entire markets.»

TA Ventures is one of Ukraine’s longest-standing venture capital firms, founded by Viktoriya Tigipko in 2010. The fund has made over 230 investments to date and continues to back both Ukrainian and international startups. TA Ventures also runs ICLUB, an angel investing platform through which it co-invests in high-potential startups. The firm typically invests in 20–30 companies annually, with about 50% of its deals in North America and 30–40% in Europe.
