Ukrainian-British Trypillian Raises $5 Million from Former UK Minister

British-Ukrainian startup Trypillian, which develops autonomous deep-strike combat systems, has raised $5 million in investment from former British government minister Brooks Newmark, Defender Media reports.

Про Trypillian

  • Trypillian Trypillian is a defense tech startup founded in 2024 by a team of Ukrainian and British veterans and military experts.
  • The company is building advanced combat technologies — including deep-strike systems, secure battlefield communications, and other autonomous solutions — aimed at reducing risks to personnel and boosting frontline combat effectiveness.
  • Trypillian operates out of London and Kyiv, with its Ukrainian team composed almost entirely of military veterans. Notably, co-founder and CEO Ivan Matveichenko is a former soldier who fought in the battles for Bakhmut and Soledar.

«Most of us have seen the war with our own eyes. That’s why we’ve come together to build technologies that protect Ukraine and save lives,» says Ivan.

About the investor

  • Brooks Newmark is a former UK Minister of State for Civil Society and Member of Parliament. Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he has supported Ukraine through his humanitarian initiative, Angels for Ukraine.
  • Over the past three years, Newmark has spent most of his time in Ukraine, personally helping evacuate over 35,000 civilians from frontline zones. In March 2025, the BBC reported that Newmark was relocating to Ukraine permanently to focus on charity work.
  • Now shifting into venture capital, Newmark is backing defense innovation.

«Ukraine doesn’t need empty promises. It needs long-term, committed partners. And firms, like Trypillian, are an important part of not only Ukraine’s future but the world’s,» says Newmark.
