Large-Scale Layoffs Reported at Playtika — Including in Ukraine

Playtika is undergoing significant layoffs, according to reports from the Telegram channel Підслухано в ІТ. The downsizing is reportedly tied to internal optimization efforts and the unsuccessful integration of a new game engine.

  • Layoffs have affected multiple projects, with at least two seeing major cuts:
    • Best Fiends now has only 30 employees remaining, down from approximately 170.
    • Redecor has reportedly laid off around 90% of its staff.
    • Other Playtika studios have also experienced reductions, though not at the same scale.
  • The cuts affect a wide range of roles, including developers, QA specialists, team leads, level designers, and product managers. Employees working from Playtika’s Ukrainian office were among those let go. Prior to the layoffs, the company employed around 700 people in Ukraine.
  • Laid-off employees will remain on the payroll until the end of July and are expected to receive their legal severance packages plus a personal bonus.

According to OpenDataBot, Playtika Ukraine’s revenue in 2024 dropped by 8% compared to 2023, totaling UAH 2.14 billion. As a result, the company fell out of the top 10 highest-earning IT firms in Ukraine.
