MacPaw Named One of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies
The American business magazine Fast Company has released its list of the most innovative companies across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa — and Ukrainian tech company MacPaw has made the cut. Only 10 companies were selected, and MacPaw proudly represents Ukraine among them. Here’s how Fast Company describes the Kyiv-based business:
If you own an Apple computer, chances are you’ve heard of CleanMyMac. The software first launched in 2008 to help you uninstall unused applications, scan for malware, free up memory and disk space, and improve machine performance in the process. It continues to top the App Store’s list of the best digital tidiers. You may not know that it came out of Ukraine, released by the app developer MacPaw, nor that the company continues to work even while its nation is at war with Russian invaders.
Last year, MacPaw released an updated version of its flagship app, along with a new one called CleanMyPhone. It helps remove clutter on iPhones by deleting duplicate photos and other unwanted images and videos with the ease of just one tap. The app also works with iPads.
Ever since Russia ramped up its invasion, in 2022, MacPaw has offered its premium version of ClearVPN, which masks a user’s IP address and encrypts their internet traffic, free of charge to all Ukrainians around the world. It helps to ensure access to secure internet connections. The company released a redesigned ClearVPN last year; the app offers an expanded server network now spread across nearly 50 countries. The app is available on iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows devices.
MacPaw has been building high-quality software for over 16 years. Founded by Oleksandr Kosovan, the company is headquartered in Kyiv, with an additional office in Boston. The team has grown to over 400 people. While CleanMyMac remains its flagship product, MacPaw is also behind a dozen other tools — including Setapp, its «reimagined app store.» And now, it is placing big bets on its AI assistant, Eney. The company has remained independent throughout its history, but according to Kosovan, it’s now preparing to attract outside investment and pursue an IPO. These moves, he says, are essential to staying competitive and building a long-lasting, global business.
Alongside MacPaw, Fast Company’s list also includes:
- CARBFIX
- BURN
- BASIGO
- CALYXIA
- GREYPARROT
- JETSTREAM AFRICA
- ZENCITY
- FLAWLESS
- MNT-HALAN
